At once critical and hopeful, I’m disappointed in myself, I’m disappointed in others presents a bid for Hillary Clinton’s 2017 “inaugural dance”, despite her electoral defeat. Through blindly optimistic presentational flair, TYSMFC satirizes/inhabits the flawed, wide-eyed aesthetic of the 2016 Democratic bid, in its glittering emptiness and its imperfect politics. As heartbreaking as it is hilarious, this bombastic work exemplifies TYSMFC’s style of exuberant, thoughtful performance.

This work premiered February 2017 at Detroit performance venue Light Box as part of the protest event “Bad and Nasty,” which featured various Detroit artists together in one night of resistance against the newly elected Trump administration. Since the premiere, this work was shown as a part of two other productions in Detroit and Elgin, IL, and in Kalamazoo, MI in March 2019.
